Privacy and GDPR

Ensure your fleet is GDPR compliant and offer privacy features to your drivers.

What is personal mode?

Manually enable and disable Personal Mode directly from the Geotab Drive app and the MyGeotab portal with a single click. Personal Mode allows drivers and dispatchers to hide vehicle tracking in the fleet management application for designated periods of time. When Personal Mode is enabled, location features that use GPS such as position, trips and speed profiles are not displayed in the application.

What is GDPR and what does it mean for fleet management?

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on May 25 2018, replacing the 1995 Data Protection Directive. In many ways, GDPR is a legislative continuation of existing data privacy principles. GDPR is an opportunity for businesses to demonstrate to customers, regulators, suppliers, and the public, that responsible data governance is a core feature of their organisation. Compliance with GDPR is not optional, and concerted efforts must be taken by fleet managers with organisational buy-in, from top to bottom.

Geotab and GDPR

Geotab’s open platform telematics solution provides fleet managers with the tools they need to run their fleets in a safe and secured manner, while protecting sensitive information about their fleet operations and drivers. Fleet managers can use Geotab to increase fuel efficiency, reinforce driver safety, and reduce maintenance costs.
